Extreme Horsemanship Event

  1. The general Rules and Regulations apply to this class. 

  2. General Dress and Tack, W.H.A.O rules apply to this class.

  3. Modified Extreme Cowboy Rules are available with early registration, by request and at the show desk.

  4. This event is open to all competitors. You can see the class divisions below.

  5. All riders in ALL divisions are to be properly attired with correct tack according to the W.H.A.0 rule book.

    • ASTM approved helmets and regulation foot wear (1.5 cm heel) are mandatory in all classes, in the warm-up ring and when riding on the Fair grounds.

  6. All competitors must have an Exhibitor Ticket. Exhibitor Tickets can be purchased at the gate and will be available at the show desk. 

  7. PRE-REGISTRATION IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED and can be made by completing the above form or by contacting one of the committee members or the event manager. The pre-registration package will include the registration form, entry fee amounts, division details, map to the event location, and method of prepayment via e-transfer. Pre-registration will be confirmed once payment is received, securing the competitor’s spot in the event.

    • Post entries may be accepted providing the division is unfilled. 

    • Entry fees will be refunded only if the horse or rider is physically unable to perform.

    • The office fee is not refundable. 

    • Release Forms must be signed at the time of registration to validate entries. 

  8. Exhibitor ages are as of January 1st of the current year. Youth divisions are restricted to exhibitors 18 years and under.

    • No youth may exhibit a stallion. 

  9. “Open”, indicates exhibitors of any age (with the exception of youth 12 years and under).

  10. “Pony”, for Wainfleet Fair purposes, refers to animals under 13.2 hh.

    • Ponies may enter any division as all entries are individual entries.

    • All pony riders must be 12 years of age or under.

  11. The Judge’s decision is final.

    • Participants and or spectators are not permitted to approach the Judge directly.

    • Any disputes must be handled following procedures as outlined in the W.H.A.O rule book after a $25.00 fee has been deposited at the entry booth before the completion of the event. 

    • There will be NO discussion unless a fee is paid. 

    • There will be a W.H.A.O Rule book and the Rules specific to this Event book, on the grounds for review by any competitor. 

  12. The committee reserves the right to change a division if there are insufficient entries. 

Note: This is a non-sanctioned event, not connected to EXCA in any way except to outline the rules and participation guidelines in a modified context for this fair exhibition event. 


Entry Fees

This is a ‘CASH IN - CASH OUT’ event. No personal cheques will be accepted. 

Division Entry Fee: Youth $35 per ride; Open $50 per ride 



  1. Ribbons and a cash prize will be given out for each division: Champion & Reserve only. 

  2. Cash Prize amount is dependent on total entries per division. 

  3. All Champion & Reserve winners must be prepared to present themselves and their horse for pictures. 

  4. Awards will be presented at the end of the day, following the final division. 



A horse may be ridden one time in each division (with the exception of the youth division). A rider may compete on multiple horses in the same division. The rider must pay an entry fee for each horse.


  1. Youth are considered as any competitor under 18 years of age. Youth under 12 years of age may ride up to the Novice division with parental consent and may ride a maximum of 2 horses. 

  2. A horse may be ridden a maximum of 3 times in this division under different riders. 

  3. The entry fee must be paid for each ride in this division. 

  4. This course shall contain 10 obstacles plus overall Horsemanship and time points. 


  1. Novice are considered as any competitor that is an amateur of any age. Riders under the age of 12 must have parental consent to ride up in this division. This division is open to youth, adult amateur, non-pro riders but excludes Pro-riders. 

  2. A horse may be ridden a maximum of 3 times in this division under different riders (with the exception of riders under the age of 12 years - see above) 

  3. This course shall contain 13 obstacles plus overall Horsemanship and time points. 


  1. This division includes competitors of any age; youth or adult, non-pro and pro riders.

  2. This course shall contain 13 obstacles plus overall Horsemanship and time points. 

Green Horse

  1. This division is for aged horses new to Extreme Horsemanship Events and futurity aged horses. This division is open to riders over the age of 12 years, adult amateurs, non-pro and pro riders. 

  2. Green horses cannot be ridden in any other divisions. 

  3. This course shall contain 10 obstacles plus overall Horsemanship and time points.
